Ray Harryhausen died today. Without him, my imagination would not be what it is, and without a doubt I can’t even fathom the thought of being who I am today without his influence. His dedication, attention to detail, and his honest love for his creations is something that is going to stay with me until I die.

Ray, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Sad, sad news.

I remember when my boyfriend first showed me Jason and the Argonauts (1963), 6 years ago. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I instantly fell in love. I mean, those skeletons were real, right!? The amount of detail that went into the monsters, especially the Hydra left me in complete awe and amazement. It wasn’t until I learned how much effort, dedication, time, and love went into creating those creatures that I truly appreciated (and was thankful) that a person like Ray Harryhausen existed.
